What are wheelchairs?

Our wheelchairs include mobility and transit chairs that enable people who have limited or no lower limb mobility to move around comfortably at home or when out and about.

What are the benefits of wheelchairs?

Wheelchairs can accommodate a range of people and whether you are an independent wheelchair user or you have the help of an attendant, we have wheelchairs for you.

Our wheelchairs are all designed for easy travel; transit chairs can be fastened into your car and folding chairs store compactly so they can fit into the boot of your car.

What different wheelchairs do you offer?

Self-propelled – self-propelled wheelchairs have large rear wheels with an attached push rim that enables you to control each wheel. They have strong frames with back, arm and foot rests for comfort. Self-propelled chairs still include handles in case there are times when you require assistance.

Attendant – attendant wheelchairs are designed so they can be pushed by a carer or assistant. They feature comfortable back and arm rests with swinging attachable footrests for extra support. They have a strong yet light frame and four wheels.

Transit – we offer a range of transit wheelchairs that are specially designed and crash tested for use in vehicles. They feature tie-down straps for stability during transit, as well as hand brakes, a lap belt and quick release wheels.

Folding – we provide folding self-propelled and attendant wheelchairs. The folding design allows the wheelchairs to be stored compactly in your car so you can take it wherever you need to go.

Bariatric – heavy duty or bariatric wheelchairs are designed for anyone with a higher user weight. They have a higher weight limit, so you can feel confident and secure in your chair. We have self-propelled and attendant controlled bariatric wheelchairs available.

What should I consider when choosing a wheelchair?

Style – the choice between self-propelled and attendant controlled will depend upon your personal mobility. However, with a range of styles you can also choose a colour and design that you like.

Seat size – make sure to consider the different seat sizes offered for our wheelchairs so you can fit comfortably in the chair.
