What are slings?

Slings are used with hoists to transfer you between different places, including your toilet, bed or chair.

What are the benefits of slings?

Slings reduce the strain of manual transfers, especially for carers who may have difficulty lifting you. With toileting, bathing and swimming slings, you can be confident that you have transfer support in all your daily activities.

What different slings do you offer?

We provide a wide range of slings in different styles, colours and materials that are designed to fit onto hoists. We also have slings that can transfer you in a standing, sitting or reclining position. Head and back support – slings with head and back padding offer full upper body support so you can rest comfortably during transfers.

Toileting slings – toileting slings are ideal to reduce transfers when using the toilet. They are specially shaped so that they can be used over your lavatory.

Bathing and pool slings – we offer a range of slings that are made from a water-resistant material, designed especially for bathing. Our pool slings include the float sling to lift you comfortably in and out of the pool in conjunction with a hoist. The evacuation sling is used with a slide sheet when a swimmer needs to be recovered from the pool, in the case of a seizure or similar circumstance that puts them in danger.

What should I consider when choosing a sling?

Size – each sling is sold in various sizes so it is suitable for a wide range of people. Check the sizing to ensure you choose a sling that is suitable for you.

Style – each sling differs in style and some are especially for toileting, bathing or standing transfers. Think about where you will be using the sling so you can pick an appropriate style.

Hoists – as some of the slings are designed for specific hoists, make sure you check which hoists are compatible before purchasing.
