What are children’s walking aids?

Children’s walking aids include walkers, crutches and a range of accessories that support young people when they are walking at home or outdoors.

What are the benefits of children’s walking aids?

With a variety of accessories, children’s walkers and walking aids can be tailored to children with different mobility requirements, so they have the appropriate support.

What different children’s walking aids do you offer?

Trainer – we provide a walking trainer for children who aren’t yet able to use a standard walker. The trainer can be used in an anterior or posterior position and the wheels can be adjusted, so they lock, swivel or move just one way.

Walkers – we offer two posterior walkers that support children and help them to maintain a good posture when walking. Both walkers have comfortable handles and one-directional wheels to stop them from rolling backwards. A forearm walker is also available for children with hand impairments and reduced grip.

Walker accessories – walker accessories include posture aids, such as the hip positioner and pelvic stabiliser, that support different areas of the body. We also offer wheel tabs and leg prompts to help children correct their gait, as well as accessories, such as the forearm supports, that enable children with different abilities to use the walker. Sturdy outdoor wheels are also available for the children’s walker.

Drinking aids – drinking aids help children to stay hydrated at home and on the go. We offer a bottle with a drinking cap and a bottle with an attachable drinking tube. With large handles, the bottles can clip onto beds and chairs, and the drinking tube can attach to your child’s clothing with the clothes clip so a drink is always accessible.

Crutches – children’s crutches offer walking support if your child has a leg injury or ailment. The crutches are supplied as a pair and are available in two different sizes, but can be altered further with the height adjustments.

What should I consider when choosing a children’s walking aid?

Size – we offer a variety of different sizes so there are walking aids to suit children of all ages. Check the different sizes to ensure you choose an aid that will provide the correct support for your child.
