What are food preparation aids?

Our food preparation aids include graters, spread boards and specialised knives. They are all designed to help anyone with limited hand mobility or strength to safely prepare their own meals in the kitchen.

What are the benefits of food preparation aids?

Food preparation aids are an easy and affordable way to enable independent cooking and meal preparation. They help to make the kitchen a safer place if you need a little extra support with cooking.

What different food preparation aids do you offer?

We offer a wide range of food aids for the kitchen, including peelers, scales and spread boards. Some aids are specifically designed for easy one-handed use and others are ideal if you’re living with limited strength in your hands, or have a visual impairment.

Slicing, peeling and grating – we offer these preparation aids with shaped handles and designs that help you grip them more securely. We have a range of chopping aids that keep food in place, such as the Slicing Helper and Mandolin Slicer. We also offer vertical handled knives that allow for easier slicing with a gentle saw action and an Auto Chopper that cuts your food with blades inside a cylinder.

Hob safety – our hob safety products include a cooking basket and handle holder. The cooking basket fits into your pan, and with a large handle you can lift your food straight out of the water to avoid carrying the heavy pan. Handle holders keep pan handles in place, to prevent them from turning.

Boards – all of our boards have a chopping board style and are designed for one handed use or to give added grip. We have flat spread boards designed for spreading your favourite condiment onto bread and other boards that can be used for secure chopping and one-handed slicing or grating.

What should I consider when choosing a food preparation aid?

It is important to consider your own personal mobility needs when choosing a food preparation aid. Many of our aids are ideal for one handed use, but others are more suited for those with limited wrist or hand movement.
