What are commodes?

Commodes are chairs that have a hollow centred seat to offer a quick-access toileting solution. Mobile commodes can be used over the toilet, or with an attachable pan, like our static commodes.

What are the benefits of having a commode?

Commodes offer discreet and easy toilet access if you’re living with a disability, or age-related conditions which cause restricted mobility.

Our commodes can be used for travel or in the home and their simple design means they are subtle and suitable for various environments.

What different types of commodes do you offer?

As well as our static range, we also offer a selection of transportable commodes. These mobile commodes feature wheels with braking castors to enable flexible movement and secure parking. We also provide both self-propelled and attendant controlled commodes to suit all requirements.

Many of our mobile commodes double up as shower chairs. Using a shower commode reduces the need for transfers, gives you quick lavatory access and offers a secure, yet comfortable, chair to shower in.

Not only do we provide folding commodes, which are perfect for compact storage and travel, tilting commodes are also included in our selection and are designed to be used in the shower – particularly useful when you’re washing your hair.

What should I look out for when choosing a commode?

Accessories – we offer many accessories that can be attached to our commodes. These range from foot trays to harnesses and are important to consider before choosing your commode; make sure the accessories fit your desired chair!

Style – with our range of commodes you have a number of styles to choose from. Think about where you will be using the commode and if you will need to transport it.

Size and weight – these are vital to consider before choosing your chair to ensure that you can use your commode in comfort and safety.
