The results are in! Winners of our NRS Healthcare Carer Awards 2016
Over the last few weeks, we’ve hosted a social competition on our Facebook page, encouraging people to enter a deserving carer into our NRS Healthcare Carer Awards 2016.
Although this tied in with Carers Week 2016, from the 6th-12th June, we understand how hard carers work across the UK each and every single day. That’s why we launched our Carer Awards, to give something back to three praiseworthy carers who go above and beyond for others.
The carer who wins our Adjustable Foot Stool is…
Entered into the contest by Valerie Iwenya, Denise was nominated for her exceptional care towards the lovely Alice Routledge. In answer to the question “Why are you entering this carer into the NRS Healthcare Carer Awards 2016?” Valerie explained:
“Denise has been exceptional in all her endeavours with the care of Alice. She has been a solid ground to her overall mobility and speech. Denise has never given up and has always fought a good fight for the betterment of Alice’s wellbeing. Alice could not have wanted any other carer than Denise and Alice smiles each day which has prolonged her life and given her a sense of being.”
Congratulations and thank you Denise for your kind and generous work with Alice. We hope the arrival of our Adjustable Foot Stool might allow you to put your feet up with a nice cup of tea!
The carer who wins our Batwing Pillow and Adjustable Bed Tray is…
Nominated by his wife, Eunice, she wanted to recognise Brian for all the love and care he gives her on a daily basis. Having officially been a carer for the past 24 years, Brian does everything from the cleaning to the shopping, as Eunice told us:
"My husband has been caring for me since 1992, he does it all from shopping to cooking and cleaning. His pastry is special, his Christmas cake is legendary and dinners are brilliant with at least 4 veg every day. He is now 79 years young and still does it all. Our trips to hospital for my appointments, he makes them fun. In fact he makes our life as much fun as he can. He gets down sometimes, if he is feeling unwell himself, but still he fits it all together for us. He brings me breakfast in bed every day, and when I come down on my stairlift, I often find, he has done all the ironing. My Hero in every way. I hope he wins at least a commendation...there are no medals for carers, Bless them all. X”
We think you’re incredible Brian and we hope once you receive your Batwing Pillow and Adjustable Bed Tray, yourself and Eunice might enjoy breakfast in bed together!
And the carer who wins our £75 Amazon Gift Card is…
Congratulations to Christel who wins first place in our Carer Awards 2016 competition. Nominated by her partner, Tony, he wasted no time in telling us exactly why Christel deserves to be recognised for all her efforts:
“Because of her unconditional commitment in caring for her 88 year old mum, Bridget, every day. Always smiling and cheery, even when times are difficult and care isn't easy. Knowing everything about her Mums care, medications, hospital appointments, arranging chiropodist, hairdresser, optician, dental, nurse, occupational health visits etc. Taking her mum on day trips, giving her an excellent quality of life. Providing three hot meals a day, amazing!”
To care for those who once cared for us demonstrates such inspiring attitude and strength. Christel, we think you’re a superstar and we hope the small token of this £75 Amazon Gift Card will go someway to showing you just how much you’re appreciated.
