Not your average Children in Need fundraiser

As a company with a strong ethos in delivering person-centred care, not only for vulnerable older people but also for children with special needs, we wanted to do something special to show our support for Children in Need 2015.

In addition to raising money for the charity at our Head Office in Bardon through a traditional Bake Sale and Quiz, this year we also donated free activity packs to eleven local special need schools throughout the Leicestershire area.

Designed to encourage children to learn from each other, share memories, and improve skills such as hand eye coordination, the activity packs were specifically chosen to be inclusive for children of all ages and abilities – and boy, did they have a lot of fun with them!

West Gate School, Leicester

We were delighted to be invited by the staff at West Gate School to attend their Children in Need assembly last Friday morning and personally present the gifts to some of the Junior children. The students there were an exceptional group of young people who really did their school proud.

Birkett House School, Wigston

Last Friday afternoon, we dropped by Birkett House School to hand over an activity pack during a class lunch break. Luckily, the weather was on our side and the children were able to enjoy their gifts in the beautiful Autumn sunshine! A huge thank you goes to Deputy Headteacher Cath Brooks, for introducing us to such a wonderful bunch of students and allowing us to join in their excitement as they played with their new games.

Cakey goodness and super-human fun at NRS Head Office

As well as giving away free activity packs, all the employees at our Head Office did a marvellous job of raising some hard cash for Children in Need too. Below you’ll see some photos of our Bake Sale and Superhero Soundtrack Quiz, which helped us raise a rather splendid grand total of £218.03! An excellent effort all around.
