Getting Out and About – Which Mobility Products Suit My Needs?

With so much choice when it comes to choosing mobility products it can sometimes be difficult to be sure that you are choosing the best products to suit your particular needs. Mobility products that provide support outdoors are invaluable and some can help those who would otherwise be housebound without their support but there are many to choose from and this can sometimes leave you confused when it comes to choosing mobility products that are appropriate for your individual needs.

Walking Aids for Mild to Moderate Mobility Limitations

Independence is often one of those things that until we no longer have it, is not something we concern ourselves with.  If like many you suffer from limited mobility but are capable of walking short distances a walking aid could be the ideal solution to ensure you maintain your independence whilst at the same time include the support that will reduce the risk of a fall.

Affordable & Lightweight Walking Sticks

Included in our range of walking aids is our range of walking sticks. Walking sticks are an excellent walking aid for those that require only minimal support. In our selection of walking sticks you will find the standard wooden walking sticks as well as a range of more modern alternatives such as adjustable, telescopic and walking sticks that even include a seat! We also provide innovative accessories to go along with your walking sticks.

2,3 and 4 Wheeled Rollators

Mobility rollators or wheeled walkers as they are sometimes referred to, provide excellent support indoors and out, as well as providing balance support while incorporating a carry basket or bag to free your hands for grabbing the frame. A seat is commonly included with a rollator. Seated rollators provide welcome relief at any time should you need to sit and rest for a short while on your travels.

There even a variety of rollators to choose from; the 2 wheel rollator, 3 wheel rollator, 4 wheel rollators and bariatric rollators. The bariatric rollator is designed for larger users whilst the difference between the 2, 3 wheel rollator and 4 wheel rollators is the level of support required by the user. All include brakes for added safety when manoeuvring. The 3 wheel rollator is for obvious reasons lighter than the 4 wheel rollators which means it is marginally easier to transport.

Advanced Mobility Products

If you or someone in your care requires advanced mobility support then we have a range of more heavy duty mobility products that are suitable for the home and getting out and about. Our product development team work closely with our in-house Occupational Therapists to ensure that we only provide quality mobility products that are to BHTA standards.

We’re all familiar with wheelchairs and the invaluable support that they provide for both the user and those who care. We provide a range of not only attendant controlled wheelchairs but also a range of self propelled wheelchairs for those who are capable of using one without the help of a carer or family member. In addition, you can also find a range of wheelchair accessories. Wheelchair accessories can include portable ramps, specially designed pressure cushions, rain covers and much more.
